Getting Things Rolling
One Board One Artist
In August of 2020 CheapSk8 purchased ten blank skateboard decks from Project Skateboards.
In an effort to get our name out there we collaborated with the Arteri and Solo Studios to showcase one of our concepts.
The idea was to get ten local young artists on board. Empowering the youth and employing them while doing a little to help out the local sk8ing community.
How you may ask?
The boards are.... well....uhm...... ironically not cheap.... and here's why:

R800 goes to getting a previously disadvantaged sk8er onto a board.
Yes!... with wheels, trucks and hopefully soon to be protective gear too!
We plan to exhibit these boards in Ribeek Kasteel and have purchased ten more for the nexst round of One Board One Artist.
Cheapsk8 Mechanics
Dan Wickham the founder of CheapSk8 noticed an increase in skateboarding by the local youth. Many of these skateboarders were/are using outdated or broken boards and don't have immediate access to the tools or knowledge which would allow for safer and better skating. CheapSk8 aims to empower previously disadvantaged skateboarders by providing bimonthly educational workshops, the tools, skateboards and the skateboard parts necessary to skate safely. These workshops are currently being held in Riebeek Kasteel and CheapSk8 aims to spread these workshops to neighboring communities too.
Precious Plastics
Plastic Skateboards
This is very much a pipe dream...... Having recently found @preciousplastics we would like to start a beach cleaning project. The idea wold be to get local previously disadvantaged skaters to help us out on beach ceaning days. These participants would be rewarded with a skateboard made from the very plastic that they have collected from the beach.
We haven't quite spearheaded this project yet due to a lack of funds. Thank you to the PreciousPlastics Project we have managed to get our hands on the blueprints for everything that would be needed to get this rolling. The blueprints include a plastic shredder, extruder and a mold.

Donate A Setup Or Buy A Skateboard For A Previously Disadvantaged Skater
Quick question: Do you have an old setup collecting dust in the corner of you room? .....
Yah know..........The one that you got for Christmas that one year that hasn't seen the light of day......The one that doesn't know what tar smells like.....The one that longingly stares at you every time you walk past it with your bicheal in hand....
Got any sk8boarding parts lying around?
Well we'll take it off your hands.....put it on bricks.......and use the wheels or whatever to fix a previously disadvantaged sk8ers board..... or gift them the entire setup.....and yes we'll keep you updated as to where your donation goes.
